Pinktober: Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Students and staff form a pink ribbon to stand up for breast cancer awareness and research.

Pink Pumpkins sold at Craig High School

Pumpkins, unlike any you would regularly see, were growing in one of Craig High School’s many courtyards this summer and early fall.

If you got a chance to see them, then you would be surprised to find that they look vaguely pink!

The CHS FFA helped and recruited staff and students to grow pink pumpkins over the summer to be sold to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness.

Thanks to the hard work of these volunteer gardeners, the FFA grew about 50 pumpkins, around 10 fewer than last year.

That can be contributed to a bad year for their growth, too much rain causing over 20 of them that were growing in the courtyard to rot, leaving only 7 viable to sell from that location.

The CHS FFA and CHS National Art Honor Society also painted small pumpkins to be Halloween or Breast Cancer awareness themed to help raise more money.

The money raised will go to the Pink Pumpkin Patch Foundation, which will help fund breast cancer research.

Outside of room 816 at CHS, you can find these pink pumpkins and special painted pumpkins for breast cancer awareness, which you can buy for $5-$20 to support breast cancer research and awareness.

Update : The CHS FFA raised a little over $250
