Great Lakes Apple Crunch: Celebrating local farmers

On Thursday, Oct 11 Craig celebrated the 5th Great Lakes Apple Crunch.

During both lunches, students in the cafeteria learned the history of this day and enjoyed a Gala apple from Belgium, Wis.

The “Great Lakes Apple Crunch” is part of National Farm to School Month and “Food Day,” which celebrates farmers, growers, and buying local.  

Over 1.3 million students in the Great Lakes states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio registered to participate.

In Wisconsin, 277,079 students at 900+ sites, including 11,000 from Janesville, registered for this year’s crunch, surpassing last year’s numbers.
