Bloomquist and Leverson finish 10th and 67th; girls place 8th
On Saturday, October 27th in Wisconsin Rapids, the girls cross country team, Brian Bloomquist, and Aaron Leverson competed at the WIAA State Championships in hopes of coming home with a medal.
The Boy’s Division 1 started off the day. Winner Drew Bosley of Homestead finished in a blazing fast time of 15:20. Craig’s Brian Bloomquist finished 35 seconds later with a time of 15:55 in 10th place, earning the last spot on the state podium. Aaron Leverson finished in 67th place with a time of 16:45.
Genevieve Nashold won the Girl’s Division 1 title in a time of 18:10. The Craig Cougars finished 8th out of 20 teams in the state. Clare Hulick led the team in 30th place with a time of 19:24. Other notable performances include Maddy Arrowood in 73rd with 20:09, Cambria Thompson with 20:28 in 107th, Ivy White in 129th with 20:29, Emily Austin in 127th with 20:43, Ellie Lorenz in 129th with 20:43, and Ema Frick in 178th with a time of 21:45.
All of the girls cross country team will be returning next year. The boy’s team is losing several runners, including individual state qualifier Aaron Leverson.
