On Tuesday, Oct. 17, Craig’s student council held its first blood drive of the year. Over 90 students signed up to donate.
Craig Students Come Together
According to the Red Cross, in the US every two seconds someone is in need of a blood donation for cancer treatment, surgeries, or fighting chronic illnesses.
On average only 3% of age-eligible donors donate yearly, and Craig looks to fix that number with their semi-annual blood drive.
For a lot of Craig students, it was their first time donating, and lots of people were said to have had a good time.
Craig Senior Dylan Tyler said, “It felt good to help someone out who needs it.”
He and others shared the same viewpoint at the blood drive as everyone came together for a great cause.
Excellent Execution
The Craig student council works hard every year for the school blood drive and they never fail to exceed expectations.
The student council made the process easy and enjoyable; they were helpful at the check-in desk and stood by the student’s sides as they gave blood.
They all had ecstatic smiles on their faces and kept everyone engaged with interesting conversations.
There was a waiting area with snacks and there were student council members there as well making sure everyone was good enough to go back to class.
Craig Junior Hailey Hoffman said, “We reached max volunteers again, which is inspiring to see so many high school students sign up.”
It truly is a great thing to see and Craig student council hopes to see you at the next semi-annual blood drive.
